 First Aid is the care given to a casualty before professional help arrives. It can come from a member of the family, a friend, or a stranger who happens to be on the scene. The help they give can literally mean the difference between life and death.

- To prevent the worsening of injuries

First Aid Course Info
Minimum class size - 10
class size must be advised 72 hours in advance
Time Requirements Emergency First Aid only - 1 day or 2 evenings Total time - including meal & breaks - 8.5 hours
Standard First Aid only
- 2 days or 4 evenings Total time - including meal & breaks - 17 hours
Can be combined with other courses. Adjust time requirements accordingly
Basic fee (per person) Emergency First Aid - $40.00
Standard First Aid - $70.00 (plus GST)

Any emergency situation requires prompt action, and an untrained first-aider can find themselves at a loss to know what to do. The First Aid course is available in two formats: Emergency First Aid and Standard First Aid. The courses have been designed to help first-aiders in emergency situations by providing treatment solutions for common situations.
EMERGENCY FIRST AID - Course outline
Material developed by CPRFASS and recognized by Occupationl Health and Safety, the Attorney General's Office of PEI and Health Canada then Labour Canada and now Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC).

STANDARD FIRST AID - Course outline
Includes all of the above plus:
- Poisons
- Environmental Illness and Injuries
- Burns
- Facial, Head, Neck, Spine, Chest, Abdominal, and Pelvic Injuries
- Injuries to Bones, Joints, Muscles, Ligaments, and Tendons
- Application of Slings and Splints
- Transport of a Casualty
- First Aid Kit
