The letters in CPR stand for CardioPulmonary Resuscitation, a combination of rescue breathing (mouth-to-mouth resuscitation) and chest compressions. If a person is not breathing or not circulating blood adequately, CPR can restore circulation of oxygen-rich blood to the brain.  Without oxygen, permanent brain damage or death can occur in less than 8 minutes.  Heart attack and heart disease includinig sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in adults.  Most cardiac arrests occur in persons with underlying heart disease.

Minimum class size - 10
class size must be advised 72 hours in advance

Time Requirements
CPR only
- 1/2 day or 1 evening
Total time - 3 hours

Can be combined with other courses.
Adjust time requirements accordingly

Basic fee $25 per person
CPR/AED combined $35/person

Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in adults.  Most arrests occur in persons with underlying heart disease.  CPR doubles a person's chance of survival from sudden cardiac arrest.  75% of all cardiac arrests happen in people's homes.  The typical victim of cardiac arrest is a man in his early 60's and a woman in her late 60's.

CPR - Course outline
Material taught in accordance with The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada requirements and The Life Saving Society of Canada guidelines. (BLS)

Participants will learn:

  • Rescuer Safety
  • Emergency Scene Management
  • Heart Disease, Heart Attack, Cardiac Arrest
  • Adult CPR
  • Child CPR
  • Infant CPR
  • Conscious Choking (Adult, Child and Infant)
  • Automated External Defilbrillation
If CPR is started within 4 minutes of collapse and defibrillation provided within 10 minutes a person has a 40% chance of survival.
