Defibrillators have long been used to deliver an electrical shock in an attempt to restore a normal heartbeat of an adult in sudden cardiac arrest.  In adult sudden cardiac arrest the most frequent initial abnormal heart rhythm is called ventricular fibrillation.  This is an abnormal chaotic, or quivering, heart rhythm that prevents the heart from pumping blood.  The most effective treatment for this abnormal heart rhythm is defibrillation.  

A new technological advance in defibrillation is the Automated External Defibrillator or AED.   50,000 Canadians die each year due to heart attack and heart disease.  With this course, the public, with access to an AED can now administer early defibrillation. Training in A.E.D. operation can save lives.
A.E.D. Course Info

Minimum class size - 10
class size must be advised 72 hours in advance

Time Requirements
A.E.D. only
Total time - 1.5 hours

A.E.D/CPR-C combined
- 1/2 day or 1 evening
Total time - 4 hours

Can be combined with other courses.
Adjust time requirements accordingly

Basic fee: $20 per person
combined w/ CPR $35/person

Material taught in accordance with The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada requirements and Life Saving Society of Canada guidelines.

For participants taking AED only they must have current CPR training.

    • Participants will learn and practice correct procedures of AED use with a simulator compatible with the AED available to them.
In the proper setting, an employee, colleague, or friend with a sudden cardiac arrest could have in excess of a 40% chance of successful resuscitation by having a trained AED operator readily available.
